1. How could you apply some of the technology listed into your classroom?
ReplyDeleteYou can use text messaging for pop quizzes, writing, or even spelling bees. You can use Google search to help students answer questions and then relay the answer to the whole class, for them to learn as well. Google Earth can help with geography and the internet can be use for online testing. Virtual tours can carry the class on a field trip across the world, and email can open doors for a class pen pal. Some of these uses of technology had never crossed my mind before. Technology can open so many doors.
2. What are your "legit" concerns about being able to use the technology ( listed in the video) in your classroom?
I have a concern about using cell phones in the classroom. With students having the internet on their phones, they could easily use it as a tool to look up test answers, and use it as a tool to cheat, instead of a tool to learn. I also do not know how video games could be incorporated into the classroom, but I strongly believe in incorporating all other technology as much as possible.
3. What resources do you know of that are out there to help us educators better implement these types of technology?
A lot of schools do not have much technology due to lack of funding. Maybe a grant or community donations could go to help purchase computers, or i pads for students to use in the classroom.

1. How could you apply some of the technology listed into your classroom?
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of webquests. Webquests can be used to emphasize material that students are using(such as stories, books, or other topics)and lead students into understanding more information about a particular element of that medium. Often when students complete webquests, they tend to want to know more, and this is way for them to feed into that knowledge.
2. What are your "legit" concerns about being able to use the technology( listed in the video) in your classroom?
One word: iPads! My students have received iPads as gift since Christmas, and I have had to ask parents to not let the students bring them in because they play games on them instead of using them for instructional purposes.

Websites such as donorschoose.org allows for teachers to request items for their class and various donors donate. School districs have inadequate funding, so asking parents, community members, and local vendors could serve as a way to have this technology available for the students.
